AI Visualization Terms, Explained

Clear, practical definitions of the rendering, 3D, and AI terms design professionals run into — and how each one works at Visiomake.

Photorealistic rendering

Photorealistic rendering is the creation of images so realistic they are hard to tell apart from a photograph, with accurate materials, lighting, and spatial depth. In interior and architectural work it lets designers show a space — its finishes, light, and mood — before it is built or staged.

Virtual staging

Virtual staging is digitally furnishing and decorating an empty or dated room so buyers can picture living in the space, without renting physical furniture. It is widely used in real estate to make listing photos more appealing at a fraction of the cost of physical staging.

Architectural visualization (ArchViz)

Architectural visualization, often called ArchViz, is the creation of images, animations, or walkthroughs that show a building or space before it is built. It helps architects and clients understand scale, materials, and light, and is central to design reviews and approvals.

Moodboard

A moodboard is a curated collection of images, materials, colors, and references that captures the look and feel a designer is aiming for. It aligns clients and teams on direction early, before detailed design or rendering begins.

3D model

A 3D model is a digital representation of an object's shape and surface in three dimensions, usually with textures that define how it looks. In interior and architectural work, 3D models of furniture and fixtures populate scenes and renders.

GLB file format

GLB is a compact, single-file version of the glTF standard for 3D models that bundles geometry, textures, and materials into one file. It is widely supported across 3D and web tools, which makes it a convenient way to share and load models.

Image upscaling

Image upscaling increases the resolution of an image, and AI upscaling also recovers and sharpens detail rather than just enlarging pixels. It turns low-resolution renders and photos into crisp, print-ready visuals.

Background removal

Background removal isolates a subject from its background, producing a transparent cutout that can be placed on any new background. It is essential for product imagery, moodboards, and compositing.

AI image generation

AI image generation is the creation of new images from a text prompt or reference image using a trained model. For design professionals it produces photorealistic interiors, staging concepts, and reference visuals in seconds.

Sketch to render

Sketch to render is the use of AI to turn a hand-drawn sketch or wireframe into a photorealistic image, guided by the original composition. It lets designers show clients a convincing vision without manual rendering.
